Saturday night UFC 134 in Rio Brazil Anderson Silva and a crew of Brazilian fights took the stage! It was a night of knockouts, not submissions with many fights ending in round one which is always exciting.

Ain’t no sunshine when she is gone… That is Anderson Silva’s entrance song and unlike Hurricane it is true for Silva’s opponents.

Silva fought Yushin Okami which was Silva’s last loss five years ago. Yes Okami beat Silva! Anderson was disqualified due to an illegal kick (whatever that means). Silva felt him out for a round to give him a chance and then round two just toyed with Okami before finishing him.

Silva stood in front of him with his hands down and a look on his face saying, punch me I will slip your punch and knock you out. He was like Anderson “Bruce Lee” Silva last night and needless to say he kept his title.

The UFC’s Ultimate Champion has turned out to be their ultimate dilemma, who in the hell can we get to fight this guy that is truly worthy. Okami only got a shot as a lame rematch. Who can handle Anderson Silva’s perfect punch!

Silva’s win followed that of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who finished Griffin in a battle of former light heavyweight champions and re-established himself among the loaded division’s elite. Earlier, former PRIDE and UFC champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, perhaps the biggest favorite of all to the Rio crowd, took out Brendan Schaub in the first round of one of the loudest events in UFC history at the sold-out HSBC Arena. Nogueira came back from two hip surgeries, a knee surgery, and several months on crutches to take the fight and didn’t disappoint the home crowd.

Well UFC 126 was on a great weekend. Super Fight Saturday before Super Bowl Sunday. The UFC and Dana White provided a great fight card to make all the excitement of a great weekend.

They really hyped up Belfort and for good reason he has done some damage in his career. I remember seeing before the fight a commercial hyping up a fighter making you thinking it was Silva and the stats were actually Belfort’s. Anyhow as Silva was walking out my 98 pound wife looked at me and said Silva is going to crush this guy, and she meant it and she was right.

Silva did his normal dance, a brief feel out and a chance he gives you to go for it before he has your number and boom, boom, boom lights out! It is so cool you can always see his footwork change once he is done with his observations, then it’s on. So Anderson after a minute you could tell Silva had him, he had his hands down at his side and kicked him with a rear front kick to Vitors face or chin and he went down. Silva followed up with a shot or two on the ground ref steps in. The funny thing is I really don’t think Silva had a clue that kick would knock him out I think is was just throwing it out there, of course he targets everything, but common hands down rear leg kick. He was just goofing around.

So…. Yes Silva is just that good.

Perfect Punch MMA Training Gloves

Jay Glazer from Fox Sports has been training MMA fighters for years and has put together this fantastic MMA workout system that works great for everyone from the Pro MMA Fighter to the average person just looking for a fun new workout. I saw some praises from Dan Henderson and they made me want to give this thing a go.

Whoever designed the packaging did a great because it looks really cool. I was totally stoked just to get it out of the box. There was no assembly or anything like that required and they include some very simple instructions if you need help adjusting the straps. Well it was pretty much just like I expected it to be. Resistance training with MMA gloves on and I must say it was pretty awesome.

Perfect Punch is terrific for serious MMA fighters because practicing their shadow boxing technique is a must. It is very easy to follow the work out routine provided to get a great work out, build endurance and increase your punching speed and power. Or, you can just do your own thing and still have the best shadow boxing session of your life.

Resistance training is crucial for fighters because it builds lean fast reflex muscles which fighters need for speed. You can have all the power in the world but unless you have the speed to get yours in first your punching power won’t even matter. The thing I liked most was that I could definitely tell I was beginning to increase my speed and my punching form. I’m already a strong puncher but I am confident that continual training with the Perfect Punch will make my punches even better. Just watch the end of the Perfect Punch video, Jay Glazer is no lightweight yet that dude throws bombs with mega speed.

In my opinion, the Perfect Punch is a simple yet extremely effective MMA product that will be used in MMA and Fitness Gyms across the country. I would bet that within the next year or so you will see entire fitness classes at your gym with this thing.

For a guy like me, I like anything I can train with that works efficiently and makes my workout better. This little device takes the best of the old and the new and gives you what you need to get the best punching work out aside from of heavy bags and mitts and sparring of course.
